What databases does PatentBase support?
PatentBase will initially support all utility and design patents from USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) and EPO (European Patent Office). Access to EPO database may be limited to higher user tiers depending on traffic. Access to other patent databases may be provided as we grow.
What LLM backend do you use?
PatentBase uses Gemini 2.5 Flash as a default LLM backend. Gemini 2.5 Pro, OpenAI GPT 5, Anthropic Claude Sonnet 4.5 are all available if the user wishes to use them
What are AI credits in PatentBase?
PatentBase use AI credits to perform tasks that require LLM API calls. These include query generation, semantic re-ranking and claim analysis. The number of AI credits used depends on the LLM API chosen and the number of input and tokens required by the operation
How does the AI query generation work?
Simply describe your invention or prior art search in plain English or if available, use the exact claim language. Our AI analyzes your description and generates optimized Boolean queries tailored for each patent database, using the appropriate syntax and operators.
Can I use my existing queries?
Absolutely! You can paste existing queries into PatentBase using the USPTO syntax. We also support manual query building with our advanced query editor.
What is claim analysis?
Claim analysis uses LLM APIs to fully analyze your input claim to decide whether a specific patent teaches the input claim.
Is my data secure?
Yes. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. Your queries and search history are private and never shared with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Can I export my search results?
Yes. Free users may be limited to 25 results depending on server traffic
